Biography

あいみょん (Aiomyon) started writing songs since she was in junior high. Originating from Nishinomiya City, Hyogo Prefecture, Aiomyon has gone on to do great things. Currently signed to Warner Music Japan, she has released an album and 2 mini-albums. Rising quickly in Japan with a few national tours under her belt. With her high-profile it is hopefully only a matter of time before she expands her scope and does a few live shows here in the UK.

Sound

As a singer songwriter, Aiomyon has a bit of range to her sound and fully embraces it. Predominately she goes for a bouncy pop rock that has a fun vibe to it. Generally upbeat, with a nice flowing rhythm and other tracks have a more acoustic slant to them. What I like about the acoustic slants is sometimes the drums and other instruments are present and other times not to give a bit of variety. Very rarely, she may even have an electronic elements, such as an electronic drum beat and synth to really emphasise the bouncy rhythm of her tracks. It is a nice range that keeps you engaged as you listen to her discography but at the same time it feels all connected. The way it is written still feels part of a larger picture and comes together very well, it is what impresses me most whenever I listen to her music.

Where her instrumentals have range, so do her vocals.  Her style really adapts to each song, mixing between a reserved style or powerful ballad, sometimes even doing speaking vocals to show there is no limits on her sound. It’s incredible how she can pull off both styles perfectly. Usually with singers it is a case of specialising more in one but to me both have a strong force and she manages to really drive the song with the style she decides to do. It’s really impressive and make songs engaging in their own way by proving the main melody. This would make live performances that much more interesting, her vocal mastery creating a powerful atmosphere.
